FISHING REPORT

Hi there, welcome to our local Northland fishing report.

TIP OF THE MONTH:

There is nothing worse than gear failing on that fish of a lifetime.  Now's the time to get your reel re-spooled and serviced to hang on to that big one.

ROCK FISHING: Fishing has been very good with plenty of Snapper 2-10lb being caught, early morning being the best time to be out there.  Plenty of berley is a must this time of year - getting the fish feeding.

BOAT:  Bream Bay is starting to fish well with the pilchards coming in and the Kingfish feeding on them.  Keep an eye out for the birds is the best way to find the bait fish.  Softbaits are the best way to fish around the workups.

BEACH:  Surfcasting has been very good  with plenty of Kahawai 2-4kg fish being caught around Ocean Beach & Ruakaka.  Well worth getting out there, the best time to fish is early morning and last light.
